Tommi Wants To Go To Mars

Well, well, well - I guess we just have all kinds of mad money just laying around. Deficit? What deficit?
HOUSTON, Texas (AP) -- NASA's new administrator and House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Texas, vow the space agency will have the necessary funding to implement President Bush's vision to send astronauts back to the moon and to Mars.
The only way I'll support that idea is if Tommi is on that rocket with a one-way ticket. Heck, why not build one big enough for the whole Bush Administration? I'll pony up for that!

Alicia,

I'll chip in, too. I bet you can find plenty of other donors in the blogosphere. I see a thousand points of light...

I heard about Tommi's big idea. What an idiot. Randi Rhodes says it's just a cover for their plans to weaponize space. Perhaps, but it could also simply be a handy distraction from the war, the sucky economy, the non-existent social security crisis and Tommi's own troubles. My theory is that these guys are just bombarding us with all this stuff simultaneously to overwhelm us. If everything turns sour all at once, what do we deal with first? We need bullshit triage.

I totally agree, Crabby. It's the ol' 'Look over here! Look over there! Nothing up my sleeve!" business.

And you have to admit, it's working like a charm! Crazy like a fox.

I have no problem with us trying to send men to Mars (as long as our economy can afford it) and I know our exploration of space has brought us many everyday items we now take for granted. But let's face it, now is not the time to go back into space. Maybe, if Dubya hadn't squandered the assets left by the Clinton administration we'd have the money to fund such a mission. But if we do it now, the only sound we'll hear will be what's left of our economy being sucked through the black hole of the Bush anti-matter budget machine.
