I am so pleased to discover your fondness for Eddie Albert. Green Acres was my favorite show growing up and I still enjoy it from time to time.
I had the good fortune to hear Eddie speak at the Farm and Ranch Congress in 1985. He was certainly no public speaker, but I will always remember the kind words of support for America's small farmers and ranchers that day.
Most people don't realize the fact that Green Acres was a parody on what Rural America is. Mr. Haney wanted all of the Douglas's profits and would stoop to any depth to get his fingers on them. Just like Agribusiness. And Hank Kimball's useless advice basically mirrors the "wisdom" from the Department of Agriculture that has helped to decimate the population on farms and ranches for the last several decades.
Eddie was a class act.

He sure was, wasn't he? It was a happy coincidence to find out after the fact (of starting Hooterville) that he was such a fine human being, who worked hard to do good for people, and the earth they live in.

You're right - it was a very telling show. Surrounded by people who lied to you, stole from you and cheated you while smiling in your face and ladling on the down-home corn-pone.
