Nobody so far has made mention of the fact that Scooter has done his boss proud - that by stonewalling and lying for two years, he's bought the Administration valuable time. Two years! Can you imagine where we'd be at by now if it wasn't for the Scooter rolling them around in cirlcles? Being old hands at the corporate game, they are using the corporate strategy of waiting their adversary out, stalling until the plaintiffs run out of money and time. After all, an actuarial table will tell you the probablilty of the plaintiff dying while waiting to resolve an issue in court, and it is figured into the game plan.
They figure if they can drag this out for a couple more years, the issues will be moot anyway - we'll be in a world war or something.

Words escape me, Alicia. If there a silver lining, the GOP has encouraged more people to vote.
I don't see how they can afford to drag this out much further. To do so is going to put it right in the middle of mid-term congressional elections. I foresee Scooter taking a plea.
What puzzles me is why did he lie? He had no need to. Why did he put his career and his life in jeopardy when the truth would have sufficed?
The way I see it, Wanda, he's taking one for the team.If he told the truth, then Fitz would be able to proceed onto the important stuff about the outing of a CIA agent.
Alicia, the whole point is that Plame was never outed...there was no crime...the indictment was for allegedly lying about something that wasn't illegal in the first place. Cover ups always disturb me, especially in cases like this where no crime was committed. Maybe they were afraid of bad press, but at the same time... As Wanda said in different words, an honest man has nothing to fear, so what's the point? Clinton's affair would have probably dissolved into nothing if he'd just been straight up about it when it first came out, but he had to go and attract attention by lying and comitting other crimes to cover it up, and that's what screwed him up...he made the rope, tied the knot, sold it to the prosecutors, and said, "a little tighter guys, I can still breathe a little". Same thing here but less so...although I'm not convinced Libby lied about anything, I think there's quite a bit of witch hunting going on especially considering that Fitzgerald has practically nothing after two years an millions of taxpayers' dollars wasted...I certainly can't remember the exact details of ANY conversation I had two years ago...and some of those were pretty life changing. Oh well. Life still goes on. Maybe I'll take a trip to Florida this weekend.
Mike, it's going to be difficult to have a discussion with you if we disagree about what constitutes a basic fact.
