Halloween Costume

I was thinking about dressing up as Ann Coulter, but that would only take care of my arm...

Plus, Halloween is supposed to be scary, but not that scary!

No, Alicia, not Ann Coulter!

You could dress up like Hillary Clinton. It would take a lot of makeup to get that ugly, but it would scare the heck out of me.

I considered it but ultimately rejected it, because that would only take care of
one arm. What about the rest of me?

Look out, Daniel - Hillary's comin' to get you! Ow-ooooo!

Hey, Hillary's not ugly. Neither is Ann. Their both moderately attractive ladies. In fact I'd love to see one of those celebrity boxing matches with these two in the center ring.
I think Hillary could take Ann. After all those brittle bones of Ann's would snap like a twig. Espceially if Hillary sat on her.

I really think pretending to be Coulter would be scary! I would not want to even pretend. Ick! Urk!

I'm curious. Why the self-deprecating fat jokes? You look like a normal healthy, attractive woman to me in you bio photo.
(No I'm not hitting on you.)

That is a recent, unretouched band photograph, but it is cropped and dark - I'm about 50 lbs more than is healthy for me. In my business (entertainment, music) both my weight and my age work against me. I couldn't care less about my age, as I value each and every year, but my weight is something I can change and apart from that, is just not healthy for me, nor does it feel good to be lugging around the equivalent of a 50-lb sack of Gravy Train. If I weren't in this business, I would not care about the cosmetic aspect of it, as my husband thinks I'm beautiful whether I'm thin or fat, and it's because of our wonderful kids that I gained the weight. But there are a lot of jobs that I am qualified for musically that I could not get because of my appearance. That being said, I still attach the importance to the health issue rather than the cosmetic. And, like most things that bother me (as perhaps you've noticed) I prefer to find the humor in it than whine all the time. I only whine some of the time.

Even so, I still go out and perform, even though I'd rather be normal-weight (not thin) than overweight, healthy rather than unhealthy. As a teacher of impressionable teens and young adults, I want them to be able to see that it's not only the Britney Spears-types that can have a career in music, because I hate that part of society that drums into girls (and boys) that physical appearance is the only criteria that matters. I want them to see that you can follow your dream at any age, any weight, if you have passion and talent.

Plus, Daniel, as much as I make fun of other people on this blog - those that I feel are hurtful to this country - I think it's only fair that I laugh at myself as well. I have heard conservatives say that liberals don't have a sense of humor, but I beg to differ, and I'll be the first to poke a little fun at my own expense as well.

Alright then, fair enough. But I think it's the liberal activists and politicians who are the brunt of the lack of sense of humor remark. Most comedians do happen to be liberals after all.
